ABOUT
Welcome to my blog. My passion in life is empowering people. When you have been empowered by an experience, a book, an event, from a friend or anything else that has made you better and you share it with someone else, you have empowered them. This is how we get better. By helping others succeed, we succeed. Zig Ziglar put it best by saying, "you can have anything you want by helping others get what they want". This blog represents some of the things that have helped me become a better person in this life and I wish to share these experiences with you.
The Bible says that you become transformed by the renewing of your mind. Some people say that you have to “un-brainwash” yourself. We are shaped in large part by our parents, school, friends, media and more. We have been conditioned by the environment that we grew up in and the environment that we live in now. For example, if you hang out with people that are interested in fitness, soon you become interested in fitness. If you hang out with people that always seem to get into trouble, soon you start getting into trouble. If you hang out with people who smoke, soon you start to smoke. If you hang out with people who make money, soon you start to make money to. So you see, we pick up on the habits of the people that we associate with the most. Most times we don’t even realize it. It happens subconsciously as we make seemingly insignificant decisions that don’t seem to change anything if we do them but repeated over time form habits which are very hard to break. So in one respect, choose who you associate with because these people could end up dramatically impacting your life for good or bad. This should be very encouraging now that you know how it works. You want to be in better health? Hang out with people who are healthy. You want to make more money? Hang out with people who make money. You want to be more outgoing? Hang out with people who are outgoing! Birds of a feather, flock together.
When health is absent, wisdom cannot be applied. What do you gain in life if you don’t have the health to enjoy it? You can be wealthy but if you’re not healthy are you happy? Health is something to be focused on in our everyday lives because it affects how you think, feel and act. The healthier we are, the more energy we have to do the things that we value in life. How well do you think you would perform if every day you had to deal with an illness, injury or pain? Of course there are warriors that live with these challenges every day and succeed in spite of them but that is not the norm. Some people can rise above their challenges no matter what they are but again these people are not like everybody else. Health, by definition, is a state of physical, mental and social well-being. It implies the absence of infirmity or disease, but their mere absence does not define health. Earning and maintaining health is an active process. Good health is a result of proper nutrition, regular exercise, health care and hygiene.
There is Spiritual side to success as well. Spirituality is unique to each individual. Your “spirit” usually refers to the deepest part of you, the part that lets you make meaning of your world. Your spirit provides you with the revealing sense of who you are, why you are here and what your purpose for living is. It is that innermost part of you that allows you to gain strength and hope. Spiritual wellness may not be something that you think much of, yet its impact on your life is unavoidable. The basis of spirituality is discovering a sense of meaningfulness in your life and coming to know that you have a purpose to fulfill. Where are you at in your spiritual life? Take a moment to reflect…do you feel a sense of worth, hope, purpose, commitment or peace? Do you have a positive outlook on life? Or do you experience feelings of emptiness, anxiety, hopelessness, apathy or conflict? These may be signs of spiritual poverty in your life and may be the reason for unhappiness or dissatisfaction.
So take a look around and see if there isn’t something you can take from this blog. Better yet, maybe you can add to the value of it. Your comments and feedback are most welcome! We’ll leave off with the definition that I think best describes what it means to be successful. Success is measured by …
“The more people that are better off because you lived”
