THE FOUR BASICS
In order to be successful in network marketing you must be proficient at the four basics. Mastering the basics sets the foundation to your business.
Step 1: Develop a consistent leads source
Wouldn’t it be easy to build your business if you had a steady supply of people to expose it to? I cannot stress this step enough because I think most people overlook it. If you do not have this step mastered, you need to stop right now and give your head a shake. Start this process right now! Here are some options:
1. build a list — this is one of the oldest methods of creating a lead source but it is one that is commonly overlooked. Most people think they have to “bug” their friends and family with this method. That is not the case. Your list should be made of three types of people.
(A) List – warm market/friends & family – These are people that are closest to you. They come over to your house, they know your birthday, you spend time together doing “stuff”, etc. YOU SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSING THE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY TO THEM. This is a very common mistake for new people to make. The person talking to your (A) List is your mentor/upline. Unless you have been successful in building a profitable business before, you do not have the credibility to expose the business properly to them. Your mentor/upline is the “out of town expert” and has more credibility than you do because your friends/family don’t know anything about them and view them as the “expert”. 3 Way calls are the key here. Ask your mentor how to do them.
(B) List — luke-warm market/people you know on a first name basis – These may be friends of friends, work associates or people that know who you are but don’t come over to your house. Not very close. People you have associations with now and then. These may be co-workers, your dentist, family doctor, hockey team, sowing club, grocery store employees, post office worker, hairdresser, etc.
The way to expose the opportunity or product to your (B) list is simple. Contact your TeamVIP upline/mentor to teach you how.
(C) List — cold contacts/people you don’t know yet – These are the people that are around us everywhere we go. Be a friendly person, smile and say hello. You’d be surprised how many people return the favor. Obviously you don’t talk to them about business right away. These are relationships you develop and at the proper time, you expose the business or product to them.
You should always be adding people to your list and NEVER throw your list away. People that may have said no to you may want to revisit the program because things change. When people say no they may really mean “not right now”. Times change. People change their minds as they see you doing well or they here about it from many other sources. Follow up every 3 to 6 months and just touch base.
Another option for developing leads is attraction marketing. The idea here is people coming to you, not you looking for people. There are many options here but I will focus on just a few strategies. One, social networks like Facebook. Anyone can get a facebook account for FREE! Build up a professional profile and start joining groups of like minded people. Join groups that relate to your business. Its easy to add 10 to 20 people a day because you share the same interests and everyone wants to add more friends. Don’t immediately blast the group with information about your business. Join in on the group conversations by adding useful comments that can help everyone. As people in the group view your comments and can relate to what you’re saying. They will most likely check out your profile to see what you do and what you are about. So make your facebook profile interesting. On your info tab paste your business website and people are sure to “check it out”. Our websites track every person that visits your site and lets you know when someone registers for more information. These people are coming to you and is attraction marketing at its finest because it’s free!
